		<description>One of the instructors at Sheridan Institute in Oakville (slightly west of Toronto) asked me to talk to her first year photography students about design. Or rather, what inspires me. So, instead of making a bunch of boring Powerpoint style slides detailing interaction + interface design and the confusing as all hell terminology landscape that is typography I spent an afternoon screwing about in Photoshop, Illustrator and Processing with the hopes that I could make a bunch of cool looking slides that could hopefully give the students a different view on design (the kind that you learn once you're not a student). I started with a text file full of random quotes and text passages that just mean a lot to me and went from there. I think it worked. I also screen recorded it for shits and giggles and added Coastal Brake by Scott Hansen over it.

		<description>Series of 1920 x 1280 wallpaper birthday cards for friends on my facebook account who have their birthday displayed. Kind of a Make Something Cool Everyday concept. I needed something to do that wasn't interface design. Currently ongoing.

Images are found randomly on A) Google Image Search or B) NASA. Type is quite varied and is generally whatever I buy from YWFT that week. The rest of the imagery is created with Processing. A lot of the post done on the photos is done with Processing. Everything is assembled in Photoshop or Illustrator.

They're slowly becoming more complicated. № 17 is using a massive dataset to drive the flocking/fluid dynamics and is also talking to facebook for some other things. Lots of stuff I'm new at.

Starting late summer with an invite for an exhibit that has yet to happen, followed by my entry for the OFFF NYC 2007 catalogue and then finished up with random goodness, including two tributes to Charlton Heston, five making fun of emo music, one laser gun, and one poking fun at various fanboys.

The sorta rip of the Experimental Jetset one was brought on after going to see a grad exhibit (I won't mention which graphic design program or which college based in Oakville it was) and the majority of the students were blatantly plagiarizing established design studios like Experimental Jetset, The International Office, Non-Format, The KDU, etc. I was rather angered by this, and by the fact that the instructors were none the wiser, and that the students had the balls to copy/paste/trace/clone the work. Good luck getting a job.

This project was one of the first times I used Processing to computationally create art. Everything but the typography was generative. 

I was also trying to experiment with pushing what I thought was aesthetically pleasing and find an uncomfortable spot that makes me (and you) think about what is aesthetically appealing and why.</description>

I have been obsessed with the world of science for quite some time and was very close to going to school for Computer Science + Astroinformatics (or maybe Bioinformatics) but decided upon Design.
